Ease of Use
- PracticeMaster's Task Folder interface is easy to
use with its point-and-click access. Several task
folders are customizable at the user level, allowing
for quick access to the information most commonly
used by each user.
- Modify and create common client related files (i.e.,
fees, costs, journals) as well as area of practice
specific files (i.e., Tax, Worker's Comp, Real Estate,
Probate, Will/Trusts), providing you with the ability
to track and organize client information the way you
want.
- A special Form Designer allows you to customize
your data entry windows for easy data entry and editing
your client and firm related data.
- Automatically create a detailed document management
record after the assembly of each document, providing
fast and easy reference and retrieval of the document
in the future.
- When information required for the assembly of a
document is not in the practice management data files,
the program will prompt you to enter the information,
saving it to the document as well as writing it back
to the data file.
Court Rules
- Use up-to-date court rules to automatically schedule
appointments and to-do's (CompuLaw Court Rules required).
- Enter your own court rules and use them to automatically
schedule appointments and to-do's.
Document Assembly
- Use client and case information, including fee and
cost information to automatically create pre-formatted
documents.
- Asks user defined questions during assembly to customize
documents.
- Calculates amounts based on user defined formulas.

Calendars
- View appointments for everyone in your office with
a firm-wide calendar
- View calendars by day, multi-day, week or month.
- Find what you're looking for faster by color-coding
appointments by case, employee or area of practice.
- Calendar events can be scheduled by individual,
selected individuals, groups or firm-wide and includes
checking for conflicting events already scheduled,
thus helping to keep the firm organized and limiting
potential conflicts.
- Drag and drop to reschedule appointments.
- Set multiple reminders for appointments so you remember
to follow through on tasks before client meetings.
- User defined holiday schedules can be established,
allowing you to use federal, state, county or even
jurisdiction specific criteria when creating reminders
and due dates from one of the firm's calendar plans.
- Use security settings so people only see appointments
for certain attorneys or clients.
- Schedule recurring appointments.
- Save time by creating calendar plan templates for
common tasks that you can use over and over again.

- Calendar can be synchronized with Palm Inc.'s Palm™
handhelds, Microsoft Outlook® or exported to other
systems, such as Novell GroupWise®.
Conflict Checking
- Instantly find conflicts of interest with anyone
in your firm.
- One click drill down into the details of any conflicts
of interest.
- Search options, including "match partial words,"
"starts with," "phonetic check,"
and "contains," help to provide a more flexible,
yet accurate search.
- Phrase matching, such as "must match at least
one word" or "must match all words,"
gives you the ability to be extremely specific in
your search.
- When integrating with WORLDOX® document management
software, you can optionally include the contents
of all documents in the search.
Client and Case Information
- Store contact information such as phone, mailing
address and e-mail address for easy access.
- Attach files and e-mails to your client records
so you can find them easily.
- Instantly look up references to a person, including
those in appointments, meeting notes and e-mail correspondence.
- Synchronize contacts with Outlook®, Palm™
handhelds and QuickBooks®.
- Create meeting notes for clients and cases.
- Enter or paste notes (not specific to phone or e-mail
records) as client notes in a free form text file
with built-in spell checking.
- Associate notes with a client and/or a related party
(such as notes from a meeting with your client and
opposing counsel).
- Related parties can be associated with any number
of clients.
Area of Practice
PracticeMaster lets you organize client information
by using "Area of Practice" files.
Each Area of Practice can be developed from scratch
or you can use one of the several pre-written Areas
of Practice provided free with PracticeMaster.
Pre-written Area of Practice files include basic types
of information specific to an area of practice. For
example, the Personal Injury Area of Practice File has
fields such as accident information, medical services
and plaintiff's insurance.
Time Tracking
- Use a stopwatch timer to track the time you spend
on phone calls or Internet research.
- Combine time from several timers to create one billing
entry from your work throughout the day.
- Manage stopwatches for multiple tasks at the same
time.
- Automatically create fees in your billing software
from the time you track and appointments on your calendar.
- Set minimum time increments for billing entries.
- Cost transactions can be posted in Intuit's QuickBooks®.
Document Tracking
- Link documents and images to cases or clients so
that you can find them easily.
- Built-in document history tracking.
- Integration with iManage and WORLDOX® document
management software. Client name and description synchronization
with WORLDOX's® client tables, as well as automatically
displaying the WORLDOX® Edit Profile window after
saving an assembled document.
- Scanned documents using Visioneer's® PaperPort
imaging software can easily be attached to a document
management record within a client file, making the
image readily retrievable at any time.
E-mail
- Send and receive e-mail through PracticeMaster using
your existing e-mail program.
- Link e-mails to contacts or cases.
- Link e-mail attachments to contacts or cases.
- E-mail in PracticeMaster works with Microsoft Exchange
Server® and any MAPI compliant e-mail program,
such as Microsoft Outlook® and Novell GroupWise®.
Reports
- Client summary reports that show all activities
and references to a client.
- Calendar reports that show appointments for a day,
week or month.
- Task reports that show pending assignments.
- Create custom reports using any PracticeMaster field.
